Extra holiday help is especially sought-after in retail shopping, but don’t discount the possibility of picking up some extra hours, even if you work in other areas.
Become a Santa’s helper. This can be done in a variety of ways beyond the obvious way of wearing a red suit. For example, lots of parents buy their kids Santa letters, so you could earn some extra cash by offering to write them and advertising your business at local malls and parent-teacher conferences. Or you can ask your local post office if they hire extra holiday help to help them deliver Santa letters (some post offices offer this service in their communities).
Make the most of your abilities. If you have a artsy hobby, you can probably put it to work during the holiday season. Regardless of whether you paint, make your own soap or knit scarves, chances are they will be a local holiday market in your community where you can sell these items.

You can also take gently used brand name clothing to a consignment shop, especially children's clothes. I earn extra money by scouring local thrift stores and yard sales for brand name children's clothing, then selling it on consignment for a profit. I live near a thrift store that sells clothing and textiles for a minimal by-the-pound price. I've bought items there for pennies that I've later sold online or on consignment at a significant profit.
Sell scrap gold jewelry. You might have gold earrings that are missing a mate, broken pieces of jewelry, or other mismatched or miscellaneous gold items. Choose a dating affiliate program that has lifetime commissions. Use eBay or build a niche website to promote your products and get more sales. Stick with whatever works best out of all these suggested methods. Try any or all of them; it's up to you how you conduct your distributor business.
