How to Make Money With Car Magnets (8 Steps)
Investigate what local permits, if any, you'll need to have to start your own business. Most cities and counties require a vendor's license of some time before you can conduct sales within their jurisdiction. Your local Chamber of Commerce and the Secretary of State's office in your state can tell you exactly what you'll need. (Of course, a fee is required for the permit.)
Research magnetic car sign companies online and contact several possible suppliers for more information. Ask about pricing, delivery times and the types of artwork or computer files needed for the signs' production. Explain that you'll be selling advertising on your own car, and ask if they can mail you a sample that you can show potential customers. Also ask if they'll design your magnets for free. Your success in finding advertisers is their success is selling you more signs, so many will be eager to help you get started.
Decide how much you'll charge for your service. Don't forget to include the cost of having the sign made and shipped to you, and factor in the time it will take you to sign up each advertiser. Design your pricing with one month, three month and six month options, offering a discount for committing to longer advertising periods.
Write a basic contract that spells out the service you'll be providing, the starting date and period of the contract, and the pricing. (Local lawyers will usually provide free answers to basic legal questions over the phone, so don't hesitate to make a few calls to find out the details you'll need to know.) Include a requirement that your customers pay for at least one month of any contract up front to avoid being short-changed later by unscrupulous customers.
Have some basic business cards printed so you can hand them out to potential customers wherever you are. (Big-box office supply stores such as OfficeMax, Staples and Office Depot all print business cards inexpensively in just a few days.) Business cards will be especially valuable to leave with decision-makers as you're contacting local businesses, since they may need some time to consider your offer or may need your service at a later time. You may also consider designing a flyer that presents the details of your service for potential customers to refer to.
Start visiting local business owners or managers with whatever sales materials you've put together. Briefly introduce yourself, explain the terms of your service, show them a sample magnet if you have one available, and then ask them for their business. Whatever they're response, always thank them for their time and leave them some printed information if you have some---you never know when they'll think of you and want to get in touch.
Ask businesses who want to advertise with you to provide you with the artwork they'd like you to use for their magnet. Many businesses will create an ad to display in a few days or so, but others may look to you to create something for them. If so, don't panic---ask them what information they'd like to see included, then seek out a computer-savvy friend to help you create a design if you're not comfortable doing this yourself. (The sign company you're working with usually offers this service as well, but may charge an additional fee for it.)
Collect the up-front payment from your customer and return to show him the actual car sign you'll be using as soon as it arrives from your supplier. Start fulfilling your end of the contract immediately, and get back in touch with your customer a few weeks later to ask them about your visibility and results.

How to Earn a Marching Band Scholarship
Perform with your school's marching band all throughout high school. At best, you may attract the eye of an eager talent scout for a major university. If not, your commitment to your high school band will show scholarship committees you're serious about being in a marching band.
Apply to schools that interest you, regardless of the opportunity to earn scholarships. Your best approach might be to decide on the college of your choice and then investigate whether any marching band scholarships are available.
Find out if any summer training camps are offered. Most undergraduate schools have some kind of band camp, designed to familiarize you with the school's particular style, cadences and movements. This is a great way to get your foot in the door and learn about any potential scholarships.
Indicate to the school your desire to earn a scholarship if one is available and complete any required forms ahead of schedule. The audition for the scholarship is often the same audition for acceptance in the band. You must be a matriculating student to audition.
Shine for the judges in your audition. Nail your musical piece, whether it is prepared in advance or provided on the spot. Many top programs emphasize spirit and enthusiasm over musical ability. 'Wow' them and you will go far.
Keep your eyes open for additional scholarships you may be able to earn after joining the band. Some schools offer small scholarships to all band members after their first year in the program and beyond.

How to Have a Successful Counseling Private Practice
Begin outlining a business plan for your counseling private practice by assessing your goals and needs. Write down the answers to the following questions: How much do you need to earn? How much will you charge per session? How many clients can you reasonably expect to see per week? What type of clients do you want to work with? What specialty areas are you most interested in? How much time will you need to devote to managing your business? Will you accept insurance? Do you currently have any clients? What is your client turnover rate? Do you have established relationships with other providers or organizations that will provide ongoing referrals to your practice? What relationships could you develop to establish ongoing referrals to your practice? Be certain to reassess your practice and goals at least monthly to stay on target.
Establish a network of potential referral sources to your counseling private practice. One way to establish a referral base is to make referrals to others. Sending new clients to other providers will open the door to future reciprocal referrals. Ask other providers for referrals. Contact organizations and providers you know or that work within your area of specialty and ask for referrals. Set up meetings with potential referral sources to discuss their needs and how you might be able to help. Maintaining good relationships with current referral sources and continuing to develop new referral sources will be critical to the success of your counseling private practice.
Decide early on whether or not you will accept insurance. Living off co-payments while waiting for reimbursement from insurance companies can intensify the challenges of starting a private counseling practice. Do you have enough savings reserved to see you through until you have an established clientele? Accepting insurance also means incurring additional costs to handle coding, billing and following up to collect payments. Accepting insurance may also mean accepting a lower rate for your services. Be certain you weigh the long-terms costs of filling your practice with low-paying insurance agreements. Expect to hire an experienced individual or company to handle your billing and bookkeeping. Establish and clearly communicate your rates and payment terms to clients during your initial conversation with them. Maintain clear boundaries when it comes to payments. Bending your rules repeatedly to accommodate patients who do not pay can have damaging therapeutic results, in addition to impacting your income.
Spend less than you earn and always spend less than you budget. The spacious office in the swanky office park might feel good, but it increases the amount you will be required to earn and collect each month. Aim for a quality space that is less than what you have budgeted, never more. Shop for furnishings at home stores, not office supply stores. If you do not want to work alone in your office, consider sharing office space with other professionals before hiring a receptionist you might not need. Carefully consider the need for hiring employees and understand the full cost of salaries, benefits, employment taxes and payroll preparation. Question each business expenditure and the underlying reason for it before you purchase. Avoid long-term financial commitments for business services until they have proved to be essential.
Provide excellent care to your clients and thank them for the hard work they put into their own counseling. The quality of care that your clients receive from you is your greatest strength in creating and sustaining a successful counseling private practice. Consider placing a sign in the waiting room thanking clients for their confidence by referring others. Clients may not know that it is okay to refer family and friends. Providing excellent care in your counseling private practice also strengthens relationships with referral sources as clients report back to them the high quality of care they are receiving. Be certain to keep in touch with referral sources by providing regular progress reports. Always thank your referral sources and update them on your availability.
