How to Earn Badges in Brownies (3 Steps)
Earn a Journey award. These are groups of patches, laid out along a linear journey of research, discussions and actions. Each journey award can be earned by earning the four badges that make up the stages of the journey. The Journey awards for Brownies are the It's Your World, Change It! award, the It's Your Planet, Love It! award and the It's Your Story, Tell It! award. Journey awards may be earned by working with an adult guide who has the necessary information and training to guide Brownies through that journey. Talk to your scout master to find an eligible guide to help you earn these journey award. These awards belong to the category or Grade-Level Awards.
Earn a Brownie Try-It award. There are 60 of these awards that require the completion of a specific activity or set of activities. There are 57 Try-Its and the requirements for each available in the official 'Try-Its Handbook for Brownie Girl Scouts', but you can also find the requirements for some of these journeys online on the Girl Scouts website. For instance, to earn the Wave the Flag patch, Brownies must choose four of six suggested patriotic activities to participate in. These activities include creating a collage of pictures representing America, planning a Memorial Day party or doing a good deed for someone. These awards also belong to the category of Grade-Level Awards.
Earn Participation Patches. These patches are earned by completing a series of activities tied together by a single theme. Some of the activities may be done by meeting other Brownies Grade Level Award requirements. The Linking Girls to the Land Patch, for instance, requires girls to either earn a Grade-Level Award that is related to the outdoors, environment or science by working with a federal natural resource agency, participate in a Linking Girls to the Land project that can be found on the related website, interviewing and job-shadowing an individual working for a federal natural resource agency, visiting an environmental, science or outdoors related destination recommended by Girl Scouts, or demonstrating and teaching to others environmentally aware ethics as outlined by the Linking Girls to the Land Patch program. Some of the programs relating to these patches, such as the Linking Girls to the Land Patch, can be found online, for others you must contact your scout master.

How to Earn Girl Scout Brownie Wings
Enroll your child in the Brownies program, which is part of the Girl Scouts of the USA.
Wait until the end of your child's Brownie program in third grade, at which time she will earn her Brownie wings. She will then move up to Girl Scout Juniors for fourth and fifth grade. There are no specific requirements that must be met to earn Brownie wings -- it simply signifies a completion and transition.
Attend your child's Bridging ceremony from Brownies to Juniors where she will receive her Brownie wings.
Attach the wings patch to the Girl Scout Junior uniform according to the uniform's specifications. Refer to the website in the Resources section on where to put the wings on the uniform.

How to Earn Girl Scout Badges (6 Steps)
Join the Girl Scouts of America, if you're not already a member. Find a local council on the Girl Scout website and use the contact information to get in touch with them. You can also fill out the contact form on the website to have someone contact you. Pay any membership dues and purchase a uniform through the website or through your local chapter. Depending on your grade in school, you will be placed into a particular Girl Scout level: Daisy (grades K and 1), Brownie (grades 2 and 3), Junior (grades 4 and 5), Cadette (grades 6 and 8), Senior (grades 9 and 10) or Ambassador (grades 11 and 12).
Purchase a Girl Scout Handbook and Badge Book from the Girl Scout website or from your local Girl Scout chapter. Select the badges that would be reasonable for you to earn and read the sections in each book pertaining to those badges. Study the diagrams and how-to's listed for each badge.
Talk with your troop leader about the badges you wish to receive, discussing and organizing the actions you'll have to take and the ways to safely carry out any necessary activities or trips.
Perform the required activity for badges requiring a specific task. Earn badges such as the drawing and painting badge, the sew simple badge and the puzzlers badge by completing the corresponding tasks on your own or with adult supervision, depending on your age. Once completed, the troop leader or another adult must examine the project.
Obtain badges by visiting destinations with your troop. The hiker, camp together and horse rider badges can all be earned by traveling to different places with the troop.
Participate in your troop's activities to earn badges. The asthma awareness badge, the cookie connection badge and the global action badge are examples of badges that can be earned through group activities.
