How to Earn Girl Scout Badges (6 Steps)
Join the Girl Scouts of America, if you're not already a member. Find a local council on the Girl Scout website and use the contact information to get in touch with them. You can also fill out the contact form on the website to have someone contact you. Pay any membership dues and purchase a uniform through the website or through your local chapter. Depending on your grade in school, you will be placed into a particular Girl Scout level: Daisy (grades K and 1), Brownie (grades 2 and 3), Junior (grades 4 and 5), Cadette (grades 6 and 8), Senior (grades 9 and 10) or Ambassador (grades 11 and 12).
Purchase a Girl Scout Handbook and Badge Book from the Girl Scout website or from your local Girl Scout chapter. Select the badges that would be reasonable for you to earn and read the sections in each book pertaining to those badges. Study the diagrams and how-to's listed for each badge.
Talk with your troop leader about the badges you wish to receive, discussing and organizing the actions you'll have to take and the ways to safely carry out any necessary activities or trips.
Perform the required activity for badges requiring a specific task. Earn badges such as the drawing and painting badge, the sew simple badge and the puzzlers badge by completing the corresponding tasks on your own or with adult supervision, depending on your age. Once completed, the troop leader or another adult must examine the project.
Obtain badges by visiting destinations with your troop. The hiker, camp together and horse rider badges can all be earned by traveling to different places with the troop.
Participate in your troop's activities to earn badges. The asthma awareness badge, the cookie connection badge and the global action badge are examples of badges that can be earned through group activities.
