How to Make Money Over Spring Break (10 Steps)

Drive your classmates home for cash. If you've got wheels and need to travel a great distance to get back to your hometown, you're in luck if you pass through cities where other students want to visit, but don't have a ride. Post on your college's ride-sharing board and score some cash for the chauffeur service.
Babysit. Have your parents put out the word that you're available to watch the neighbors' children over spring break. If your school's spring break coincides with the public school spring break, chances are parents will be eager for childcare. You can even set up a 'camp' at your parents' house with a few friends and watch several groups of children at once.
Work odd jobs. Offer a handyman an extra set of hands and earn money painting, hanging curtains, re-grouting showers and doing other household tasks. A working knowledge of these skills will, of course, be necessary.
Check with local stores and restaurants to see if they need temporary help while you're in town. If you used to work at a retail establishment over the summer or when you were in high school, this is a good place to start looking.
Detail cars in your neighborhood. For a few hours of scrubbing down cars and cleaning out their interiors, you'll earn a handful of tens, at least. Experience with this type of work is a plus, but if you've always cared for your own car like it was a baby, you'll probably be a natural.
Sign up for temp work. Contact a temp agency like Office Team or Kelly and take a skills test. Soon you'll find yourself answering phones, typing and filing your way to next semester's room and board.
Take surveys. Signs up with research firms to give opinions on new soft drinks, deodorants and other in-development products. The 18 to 24 year old market is in high demand, so you'll be a hot commodity.
Work for your parents. Tell them you need to make money and ask them if they have any odd jobs for you. Perhaps the receptionist has gone on vacation at your mother's office or your dad's willing to pay you to help him repair the roof or alphabetize all of the books in his study.
Sell your stuff on Ebay.com. If you've got designer clothes and accessories that you don't wear anymore, or a PlayStation you no longer have time for now that you're in college, make some money by hawking it online.
Sell your genes. Donate sperm or eggs. Baby-making is serious business, even if you'll never meet the baby personally, but it can earn you lots of money for very little effort.

How to Assemble Bookmarks at Home to Make Money

Find stock images for your bookmarks whose rights that allow you to use them commercially, and save them to your computer. Since women and elderly people are the most avid book readers, according to a 2007 Associated Press-Ipsos survey, consider catering your bookmark designs to them. For example, you might save a black and white image of a record player for one bookmark and an image of a pink high heel for another.
Use image editing software to resize the image to 1-by-6 inches so that it's the size of a bookmark. Print two copies of the image on stock card. You may have to adjust the paper weight settings on your computer's printer settings for the paper to feed into the printer correctly.
Cut out the images. Glue the blank sides together so that the image shows right side up on both sides of the bookmark.
Lay a layer of laminate carefully on top of the bookmark, lining it up with one edge of the bookmark before smoothing it down. Flip the bookmark over and repeat this process on the other side to wrap the bookmark in a protective layer.
Punch a hole through the bookmark, about 1 cm below the center of the top edge. Thread a ribbon, or a bundle of three pieces of yarn, through the hole and tie a knot gently securing it to the bookmark.
Repeat steps 1 through 5 to make a collection of various bookmarks. Make several copies of each design.
Calculate the cost of your materials to make the bookmarks. Divide this total by the number of bookmarks you have made to determine the price you must sell each for to break even. Add to this amount to make a profit. For example, if each bookmark cost you 5 cents to make, you can charge $1 per bookmark and make a profit of 95 cents on each one.
Give your bookmark business a name. People will need a name when referring others to your business.
Take pictures of your bookmarks. You will need them as samples of your products.
Make posters advertising your bookmarks. Include your business name, prices, contact information and photos of your bookmarks. Ask a manager for permission to post them in places where your target market is likely to gather, such as bookstores, coffee shops, retirement homes and salons.

How To Use Flyer Distribution To Make Money

Sign up for an affiliate program. Visit ClickBank, Commission Junction or PayDotCom and look at the different affiliate programs that exist. Weight loss, parenting, making money, and health and nutrition are just a few categories of programs for which you can sign up. These affiliate programs generally all have ready-made Internet sales pages to which you can direct visitors. Copy the special affiliate link, the exact URL from which customers buy the program and which tracks your commissions and earnings.
Register a domain name. Go to an online Web registrar, such as Namecheap, Register.com or Go Daddy. Search for a domain name closely related to the type of affiliate program for which you signed up. For example, a domain name for a weight loss affiliate product may be 'InstantWeightLossProduct.com.' Select the domain name you want and complete the purchase.
Forward your domain name to your affiliate URL link. Sign into your Web registrar's account and go to the Forwarding section for the domain you registered. Input your affiliate URL link into the space provided so that your registered domain name will redirect Internet visitors to your affiliate link. Some Web registrars contain a masking option that keeps your registered domain in the browser address bar when the domain is forwarded; select this option, if available. Save changes to your account when finished.
Design and order flyers. Choose a flyer printing service, such as Vistaprint, OvernightPrints.com or ZebraGraphics.com. Or speak to a local printing service about making your flyers. Choose the size of flyer you want and any pre-made designs if you want them. Many flyer printing services allow you to upload or specify the look and design of the flyers you're ordering. Customize the text of your flyers to include the domain you registered and attractive headlines that pertain to your affiliate product.
Deliver the flyers door-to-door in your neighborhood or in nearby towns. Pay college students, adults or anyone looking for part-time income $8 to $9 per hour to deliver your flyers.
Keep track of the money and affiliate commissions you earn from passing out the flyers. Re-invest part of the money you earn to order more flyers and pass them out in additional neighborhoods.

How to Run an Unclaimed Money Finder's Business

Learn about the various types of unclaimed monies and how local laws in your area govern professional money finders. Examples of unclaimed monies include inactive bank accounts, uncashed payroll checks and stock certificates. Individual states often have laws to govern the conduct of money finders. Some states, have passed laws that make it illegal to charge finders' fees once unclaimed property is on a state's list. The National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators' website contains information about each state's unclaimed property laws.
Specialize in one or more areas of unclaimed monies. Examples of specialization include lost life insurance, state-held monies and federal agency funds. When choosing a specialty, compare your interests with the fields available. Also consider whether data can be readily obtained on the people who have unclaimed funds in a particular area.
Obtain the proper licensing and credentials as required by your national or local laws. Some states, for example, may require a professional money finder to be bonded and/or a licensed private investigator. If the unclaimed monies area that you choose to pursue does not require additional licensing or education, you can begin your business immediately.
Establish your finder’s fee and create the necessary contracts. Some states have laws on allowable fees and contract provisions. Alaska's Unclaimed Property Act, for example, stipulates a contract must be in writing, not exceed six months, specify fees to be charged and state the nature and value of property and the value of the owner's share after the fee is deducted. In addition, property equal to or greater than $500 cannot be subject to a finder's fee greater than 10 percent. Some professional money finders increase their fee rates if a transaction involves a great deal of research. For example, the fee may increase from 1 percent to nearly 5 percent depending upon the nature of the work. State laws must still be followed when increasing fees based upon the work involved.
Find records of unclaimed funds. In the United States, every state has an unclaimed property department and a searchable online database, according to the National Unclaimed Property Network. A free national database is available at Missing Money. The National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators' website also provides a listing of states that have searchable databases. Unclaimed monies from insurance policies and United States and Canadian government agencies can also be researched at the National Unclaimed Property Network.

~ Use Text Links ~ There is a lot of research to back up the opinion that text links work better than banner ads. Yes, a picture is worth a 1,000 words, but in the case of internet selling, sometimes words are better. People recognize banner ads as advertisements. That means they ignore them. However, if you write a great article with some text links strategically placed, people will get the impression that you are helping them. You become a friend and not a sales person.

Give your visitors lots of information that will help lead them into a sale.
~ Add an aStore to your Site ~ If you have a website, adding an aStore to your site is a good idea, but don't have a site that is nothing but a store. ~ Offer Your Visitors a Newsletter or eZine ~ This is a great way to get people back to your site. It's also a great way to connect with them. You can also use your newsletter to promote products. Don't however, make your newsletter a sales piece, make it something that people want to read.
~ Give people more than one opportunity to Buy ~ You don't want to fill your web pages with links to products. However, to make the most money possible as an Amazon affiliate, you should give people more than one option to click a link. Make sure that you weave the links into the text of your article so that it reads well with the rest of what you've written. Try to make visitors want to click your link to get more information.
~ Don't Forget to Work on Your Traffic ~ The simple fact is that you have to get lots of traffic in order to make sales. It's just the way it works. Make it a habit to constantly work on growing your traffic. Create new pages that have well chosen keywords, work to get back links, use forums to grow traffic, etc.

How to Calculate Delta SkyMiles

Look at the total flight distance for any upcoming flights. SkyMiles are calculated at a 1-1 ratio, meaning that for every mile you travel, you earn one SkyMile. Delta bases its mileage calculation on the total distance between the origin and destination.
Sign up for a SkyMiles account on Delta's website. You can redeem miles for Delta flights flown up to 30 days before you enroll.
Keep track of your flights. You are not able to redeem more than 30,000 SkyMiles in one calendar year. But you'll have the option to use your miles in the next calendar year or to give your miles to another SkyMiles member. On discounted fares, you'll earn 500 miles or the total distance from origin to destination, whichever is greater. On Y, B or M classes of Delta service (see Delta's website for full details on flight class), your miles will equal 150 percent of total mileage. If you fly first class or business class, your SkyMiles equal 150 percent of the recorded mileage on all flights.

How to Earn Money Writing Short Stories

Hone your writing skills and polish your stories as much as possible before you begin submitting to professional publications. Editors often disregard stories that show little concern for the mechanics of language.
Read widely in your chosen genre. This will give you an idea of the types of stories favored by the editors you are about to contact as well as what was recently published. Knowing this increases your chances of having a story selected for paid publication.
Research potential markets in a publication, such as 'The Writer's Market' or 'The Literary Marketplace.' Note each publication where your story might be appropriate, along with the pay rate for that publication. Follow up by checking the submission guidelines on each publication's website, which are updated more frequently than the market guides.
Look for anthology and short story collection markets as well as fiction magazines and nonfiction periodicals that accept some fiction. The more markets you can contact, the better your chances of getting paid for your story.
Prepare your submission package by following all guidelines exactly. If a market says it does not accept 'Simultaneous submissions,' you must wait to hear back from that market before submitting the same story to a different market. 'No multiple submissions' means you cannot submit more than one story to that market at a time. Once you hear back on your first story, you may send the next.
Submit to the highest-paying markets with the shortest response times first. Keep several stories out at a time to various markets to increase your chances of having a story purchased. Track your submissions carefully so you don't resubmit to the same market.
Fill in and return all contracts on time once your stories are purchased. The publishing industry is notoriously slow to pay writers, so don't give them any reason to be late with your check. Read your contract carefully to find when payment is due. Politely remind the editor about payment if your check is late.
Continue to write and submit short stories, keeping several in each stage at one time to gain the most opportunities for payment.
